Läckö Castle is located on Kållandsö in Lidköping municipality in Västergötland. The castle is located on a headland in the Ekens Archipelago in Lake Vänern and is a reminder of Sweden's time of great power. During the Middle Ages, the castle belonged to the Scarab bishops, but was transferred to the crown in 1527. In 1618, it was granted to Jacob De la Gardie, together with the associated counties.

Special guided tours
Behind Läckö's stately facades lie stories stretching from medieval walls to the elegant rooms where the De la Gardie family once lived. During our special tours, you will discover the castle's hidden corners, follow the traces of restorations that have restored the building to its former glory, and hear stories that would otherwise remain behind closed doors. Each tour is a journey through time and space, where the history of the castle unfolds in completely new ways.
Summer Opera 2026
Fidelio
In the summer of 2026, the courtyard will be transformed into a prison.
Fidelio is Beethoven's only opera. A rescue opera, its plot is said to be based on a real event from the French Revolution. Tickets go on sale on 1 December!

Läckö Castle stands on a cliff beside Lake Vänern, enticing you with its Baroque splendour, sensuous gardens, shining treasures and ancient medieval vaults. Läckö Castle, best known as the fabulous De la Gardie Castle on the shores of Lake Vänern, has medieval origins.

Visit the naturum
Victoriahuset, naturum Vänerskärgården and Hvita Hjorten... many names circulate when this building is mentioned. The building is called naturum Vänerskärgården - Victoriahuset. It houses a nature centre with an exhibition about the Väner Archipelago and Djurö National Park.
