EFA announce major changes to Second Division & Third Division Leagues

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have announced major changes to the structure of the second, third, and fourth division leagues.

Recently, the EFA have been working on developing various aspects of football in Egypt, especially after being heavily criticized for the issues regarding refereeing mistakes and poor scheduling, and national team disappointing defeats.

The head of Refereeing Committee resigned from his position, and his successor is veteran referee Mark Clattenburg who will be responsible for improving Egyptian referees.

Also, head coach Rui Vitoria was appointed first-team manager and Rogério Micale was named U-23 national team manager, and they are expected to achieve better results with their respective sides.

That wasn’t the end of it, as the EFA decided to restructure the Second-Division and the Third-Division Leagues.

Instead of three 16-team groups in the second division, only 18 teams will be competing for EgyPL promotion.

The third division on the other hand will consist of six groups, with 12 clubs participating in each group.
