Former Al Masry player & Cameroon legend Oumarou passes away at 38

Former Al Masry and Coton Sport midfielder Sanda Oumarou has passed away peacefully aged 38 after a long illness.

Sanda is considered a Cameroonian football legend, having led Cotonsport of Garoua to the 2003 CAF Confederation Cup and the 2008 CAF Champions League final.

Moreover, he had a stint with Egyptian outfit Al Masry, representing the club between 2005 and 2007, with the Greens finishing in mid-table positions.

Sanda has then returned back to Coton Sport, helping the team to a historic CAF Champions League final in 2008, which his side lost to Cairo giants Al Ahly after a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

After hanging up his boot in 2012 and went on to coaching and led Ngaoundere FC to the second tier of the Cameroonian football league as champions of the 2019 national Interpools in Bertoua.

And in the club’s maiden campaign in the Cameroon Elite Two championship last season, they managed to finish in mid-table position; however, Sanda was prevented from training his side due to illness since the start of the current season, according to Kick442.

His former club Al Masry has mourned the player and offered their condolences through their social media.
