Allison Smith
President and General ManagerAllison Smith is president and general manager of KETV Omaha. Smith joined KETV in 2025 after serving as news director of KCCI in Des Moines, KETV’s sister station.
Smith began her career at KCCI as a news producer before working as a producer and executive producer at television stations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. She returned to KCCI’s parent company, Hearst Television, in 2014, as assistant news director at WLWT in Cincinnati. She was promoted to news director at KCCI in 2018, only the fourth news director and first female news director in station history.
Smith earned national recognition by being named News Director of the Year by Broadcasting & Cable magazine in 2023. She was also honored as Broadcaster of the Year by the Iowa Broadcasters Association in 2024.
While at KCCI, the station earned the prestigious Service to America Award from the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation for an investigative series called “Essential: Iowa’s EMS Emergency.”
Smith has been awarded three regional Emmys, two for Outstanding Newscast and one for Interview/Discussion Program.
Smith spent much of her childhood in Nebraska and graduated from Waverly High School. She is a graduate of Drake University and has an MBA from Iowa State University. She is married and has two children.
