Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule says he "highly doubts" Nebraska will play a traditional spring game in 2025."I hate to say it like this, it's really because, you know, last year... we were one of the more televised spring games. I dealt with a lot of people offering our players a lot of opportunities after that."Rhule says he doesn't like the idea of playing in a nationally televised game because it allows other programs to see the Huskers new talent."The word tampering doesn't exist anymore. It's just absolute free, open common market. I don't necessarily want to open up to the outside world."Although there won't be a spring game Husker fans are used to, Rhule said Nebraska will still do something to showcase the returning and new talent on the roster. "I do want to show off our players in some way. So what exactly will that be? I don't know yet. I mean, I, I am not worried about anything other than recruiting right now."Nebraska has yet to hire a new special teams coordinator. Rhule says the Huskers are in no rush to fill the job but they are conducting interviews. Rhule says he doesn't believe the special teams problems last season came down to scheme. "I think a lot of our problems stem at the snapper position and once that happens, you're trying to compensate for things. " Dylan Raiola is on the brink of his second season as Nebraska's starting quarterback and Rhule says Raiola is still 'certainly one of our best players.'However, he believes the freshman still has some growing to do before he can really make Nebraska his team. "Mastering himself, getting quicker, getting his weight to the proper weight, continuing to learn the offense, mastering his fundamentals."Coach Rhule's been busy on the recruiting trail, the Husker have brought in a number of new wide receivers among other positions. "I think our roster this year will be better than our roster last year and that's just the building of the program." NAVIGATE: Home | Weather | Local News | National | Sports | Newscasts on demand |
