						Crews on Monday began a safety project for a major roadway in Yolo County that is expected to take a month.The work along South River Road from the Freeport Bridge to the West Sacramento city limits, led by Yolo County Public Works, includes installing new "No Shoulder" signs and repairing eroded roadway shoulders with aggregate material. To maintain a safe work zone, intermittent road and lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with the roadway fully reopening each evening. Motorists are being asked to expect delays, use caution through the corridor, and consider alternate routes. Flaggers and traffic control signage will guide drivers around active work areas, and local access to homes and businesses will be maintained. The schedule is weather-dependent. If work is not completed before the week of Thanksgiving, installation and shoulder repairs may extend into early December. Changeable message boards will be placed along the corridor to alert motorists to ongoing construction and potential delays.Drivers who regularly use South River Road are advised to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and follow flagger instructions throughout the project area.
