Ariel Roblin: It's six months until the Milan Cortina Olympics. We can't wait to bring you history in the making
This week marks six months until the Milan Cortina Olympics—one of the rare global events that can bring the world together with the ability to transcend politics, borders, and beliefs.
Fresh off the magic of the Paris Summer Games, we now look ahead to Italy—where we'll celebrate tradition, embrace the vibrancy of Italian culture, and find ourselves cheering for athletes we may have never heard of before.
Because at its core, the Olympics are about the seemingly unlimited potential of humanity.
But no one gets to the Olympics alone. Behind every athlete is a team.
The idea that greatness comes from the lucky few should be recalibrated to look at the full team of support behind every triumph, both on and off the medal stand.
The joy of seeing someone surpass what they thought was their full potential is the shared experience that makes the Games so powerful—and so relatable.
Since the Sydney Games in 2000, our very own Deirdre Fitzpatrick and photojournalist Mike "Domi" Domalaog have brought viewers exclusive Olympic stories rooted in a Northern California perspective, and they are well into their own training and preparation for the games in six months.
For a few unforgettable weeks this February, the world will once again pause to watch together. From record-breaking moments to emotional celebrations, we can't wait to bring you history in the making and hear from the athletes and the teams behind them.
