Lidl announces drop in price of two-litre carton of milk

Shoppers will be delighted with the news

Lidl has announced it will be cutting the price of milk in-store, dropping the price of a two-litre carton of milk from €2.45 down to €2.35.

This price cut will apply to Lidl’s range of 12 milk products - putting €2.9 million in savings back into the pockets of Lidl shoppers.

Lidl is the first retailer in Ireland to announce a reduction in the price of the staple product since 2023, which has seen unprecedented price fluctuation over the last two years due to the increased cost of production.

This move is part of a wider series of price reductions coming into effect on everyday essential items with Lidl investing a total of €20 million on more than 300 price cuts on staple items such as pasta, cereals and convenience meals as well as nappies and pet food, to deliver on its commitment to never be beaten on price.

Announcing the price reduction Robert Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland said: “At Lidl, our core commitment to our customers has always been that we won’t be beaten on price.

“We understand that rising inflation and the cost-of-living crisis has posed significant challenges for our shoppers as well as our suppliers in recent years. To deliver on this commitment we are consistently looking for ways to increase efficiencies and reduce costs in our own operations to help absorb external pressures as much as possible.

“This price drop represents a significant investment; but we are determined to support our loyal shoppers and reduce prices on the products that matter the most to demonstrate our commitment to always being the best value retailer in the country. Our customers will continue to see further price drops in the coming months.”
