The Chase fans 'work out' mystery new Chaser Maverick's true identity - and he's a very famous face
The ITV spin-off, Beat The Chasers, is set to unveil a new Chaser during the finale of the current series on Sunday
The Chase fans are certain they've cracked the code on mystery new Chaser Maverick's real identity - and he's a famous face.
The ITV spin-off, Beat The Chasers, is set to introduce a brand new Chaser during the climax of the present series on Sunday October 19.
Fronted by beloved television personality Bradley Walsh, the show pits contestants against all six of the iconic Chasers in a race against time for cash prizes.
The quiz specialists include Anne Hegerty, (The Governess), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Paul Sinha, (The Sinnerman), Jenny Ryan, (The Vixen), Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace).
During the initial stage, participants must endure a nerve-wracking multiple-choice Cash Builder to secure their place against the quiz champions, reports the Mirror.
A flawless display grants them a "super offer" - the opportunity to challenge all six Chasers for an enormous £600,000.
Nevertheless, the upcoming instalment will witness Darragh's absence. Rather, he has been replaced by an entirely fresh addition to the squad.
The newcomer's true identity, presently recognised only as Maverick, remains a secret. This week though, a teaser was shared online - and it has ignited audience anticipation.
In the clip, an individual sporting a black suit adorned with question marks made an appearance, whilst their face remained obscured by a red and black mask and bowler hat. The caption read: "There's A New Face In Town... The Maverick Has Joined The Chasers! But Who Could It Be? Find Out Sunday At 8pm On ITV!".
Programme enthusiasts were quick to share their theories about Maverick's identity in the comments section below a Facebook video, with numerous viewers suggesting comedian Jasper Carrott.
"Convinced it's Jasper Carrott!" declared one spectator.
Another added: "It's Jasper Carrot."
A third chimed in: "I'll be shocked if it's not Jasper Carrott."
Jasper stands among Britain's most beloved comedians and presenters. He's especially known for shows such as Carrott's Commercial Breakdown, The Detectives and the iconic quiz programme Golden Balls.
Nevertheless, other fans theorised that WWE wrestler Kane could be hidden behind the mask, with one person writing: "By gawd that's gotta be Kane!".
Another added: "THATS GOTTA BE. THATS GOTTA BE KANEEE."
