The Late Late Show viewers react to 'weird' RTE show with no audience due to coronavirus

This was the first time in recent memory The Late Late Show aired without an audience

The Late Late Show viewers were last night getting to grips with the first audience free airing of the RTE program in recent memory.

With coronavirus measures being implemented countrywide and inside gatherings of 100 people not allowed - the decision was taken to air the show without a crowd.

Fans noticed this from the start with no clapping and cheering as the show opened and no "one for everyone in the audience" segment of the program.

Alex Doyle said on Twitter: "Opening titles with no audience clapping along. Unprecedented times indeed."

A number of users described watching the show as "weird" but also praising RTE for setting a good example for the nation.

Samantha Myles tweeted: "The choice to have no studio audience tonight really sets a great example for the nation."

Katie Amakk added: "No audience on the #LateLateShow tonight, just a few #coronavirus experts and healthcare professionals all sitting with space between each other.

"Very informative piece! No fake news or hysteria, just the facts."

While another user added on Twitter: "No studio audience in Ireland for the late late show yet a packed audience in England for sports relief, hard to believe that two countries and neighbours have such different approaches."

There was some confusion when a live audience appeared for the Niall Horan segment but Ryan re-assured the viewers that it was a pre-recorded interview.
