Fair City viewers in disbelief as beloved character killed off in Halloween twist
Fair City's Halloween episode ended in tragedy as Anto Collins was killed after a violent clash with Mondo O'Connell.
Fair City's Anto Collins has tragically died following a killer punch from Mondo O'Connell. The character, played by Paul Ronan, was killed off in dramatic scenes on Halloween night after Mondo and Victor found out he was behind last year's fire on the building site.
The drama kicked off on RTE as Hayley urged Anto to flee to Spain, but Ger reassured her that without the video, there’s no evidence. Anto believed he could reason with Mondo, though Sharon warned him to stay away.
Kira, Alex, and Juliet worried about Mondo’s growing obsession with getting justice. Anto tried to apologise, but Mondo was furious when Anto asked him to sympathise with Hayley.
Mondo reminded him that Hayley covered for Anto with the fire. He threatened Hayley, vowing to find more evidence and report her family to social services, jeopardising her custody battle. An angry Anto promised Hayley he will fix things, RSVP reports.
Later on, at Juliet’s jewellery launch, Mondo was distracted. Anto arrived, furious over Mondo’s threats, and confronted him. The argument escalated, Anto shoved Mondo, who retaliated and struck him, causing him to fall and hit his head.
Blood pooled around him as Hayley pleaded for him to wake up. Onlookers called an ambulance, but Ger declared him dead. Paramedics removed Anto’s body, and Hayley told them Mondo was responsible.
Juliet and Kira were shaken as Detective Fidelma asked Mondo to come in for questioning. Melanie and Claire urged the Garda to either charge or release him. The town reeled as news of Anto’s death spread.
Elsewhere in Carrigstown on Halloween night, when Paul was paired with Pete to collect raffle money, he and Hughie hatched a prank. Paul brought Pete a silly Halloween costume, insisting they both wear them while collecting.
Renee scolded a frustrated Pete for making a mockery of the charity, while Hughie laughed that Pete fell for Paul’s joke. Pete wanted to confront Paul but played it cool when Dolores arrives.
Hughie quietly told Dolores he tipped Pete off that she likes “holiday Pete,” and she was touched by Pete’s effort to impress her. Plus, Kim went on a Halloween strike, protesting that Nikki lied about the costumes. Nikki invited her trick-or-treating, but Kim refused to go.
When Ray gave her a fiver in support of her protest, it sparked an idea. Leo told Nikki he saw Kim out with Darren trick or treating after all. Nikki praised her for putting differences aside, but Kim had really collected cash by claiming she has a sugar allergy at each house.
Fair City airs four nights a week on RTE One and RTE Player.
