Ireland v New Zealand player ratings as All Blacks come out on top in Chicago

Tadhg Furlong with a bang - delivers at 100/1 to score the first try

Jamie Osborne: Strong and brave, some excellent fielding in the air and one first-half run back from inside his own goal line was crucial. There is a lot more to come from the resourceful Leinster star. 7Tommy O’Brien: Didn't look out of place at all, solid in the air and willing to chase everything. Almost managed a neat chase and catch late on which would have afforded a try-scoring opportunity.7Garry Ringrose: Defensive problems, four missed tackles with his first six attempts, his shoot-up opens the door for the All Blacks key third try. Six missed tackles in all, not comfortable throughout.5Stuart McCloskey: Big, brash 56 minutes, charging and smashing into Kiwis at every opportunity, made good ground for instance ahead of Furlong's try. A dozen carries for a hard-earned 50 metres.7James Lowe: Never stopped looking for work and there were a number particularly eye-catching moments, not least his covering across and clearing a dangerous kick-through a with quarter-of-an-hour left.7Jack Crowley: Seventh minute penalty settled Irish nerves, added another in second-half. Some very good but also some average decisions as in caught in possession ahead of the All Blacks second try.6Jamison Gibson-Park: Doubts about his form that surfaced Leinster-Munster were quickly dispelled as his was an outstanding first quarter. Six carries helped release some of the pressure Prendergast.7Andrew Porter: Played 67 minutes but was part of a struggling Irish scrum though that time. Three carries, six metres. Decent shift in defence with eight tackles, two missed - one of those credited was harsh.6Dan Sheehan: Right decision to go for posts early on, strong running, uncharacteristic troubles at the lineout, not helped by losing Beirne to that red. Three carries, 10 metres, eight tackles, one miss. 7

Tadhg Furlong: 100/1 to be game's first try-scorer, took the ball following a lengthy run at the gain and was unstoppable. Ireland were struggling all though at the scrum, not aided by Beirne's departure.6James Ryan: In the wars as Ireland were frequently having to shuffle their positions, given time on the sideline with a HIA via his mouthguard. Ireland's best defender on the day, 13 tackles and a brick wall. 7Tadhg Beirne: Third minute yellow card for upright tackle, no wrap, upgraded to 20-minute red within six minutes of the original decision. Replaced by Ian Henderson following the 20 minutes being up. n/aRyan Baird: Outstanding first-half lineout steal at 10-7. Moved to the second-row role following Beirne's red and Ryan's HIA. The very man to have in the team if a back/second-row switch is needed!8Josh van der Flier: Brilliant poach just after Beirne's sin-bin, Ireland best defender through the first-half (9 tackles), tired a bit in the second-half and finished with 13 tackles, one miss.7

Jack Conan: Worked the hard yards, a constant thorn for New Zealand on both sides of the ball. Six carries for 27 metres, defensive brilliance with nine tackles, no misses, through his 51 minutes.7Replacements: Rónan Kelleher 5, Paddy McCarthy 6, Finlay Bealham 5, Iain Henderson 7, Caelan Doris 6, Craig Casey 5, Sam Prendergast 5, Bundee Aki 5
