Former Laois and Portlaoise GAA player Zach Tuohy has been unveiled as a contestant on Australia’s version of ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.’
Retired Geelong Premiership winner Tuohy, who enjoyed a stellar Australian Rules career, is currently filming in a jungle in South Africa.
The show is one of Australia’s most popular television programmes and is similar in format to the version which appears on Irish TV screens, hosted by Ant and Dec.

Tuohy (35) said: “I can’t start a fire and don’t know how to make a camp. If any of the trials are to drink a pint of Guinness, I’m in.”
He was asked what he is afraid of, replying: “Heights, spiders, gross food. Is there any of that in the show?"
Tuohy and his fellow contestants will go through a series of trials. The prize for the winner is $100,000 for a charity of their choice.
Tuohy’s chosen charity for the show is 'Heart Kids,' an Australian organisation that supports families of children with early onset heart disease.
The show premiered for this season on Sunday night and is screened throughout the week.
Tuohy holds the record number of AFL appearances for an Irish player having made his debut for Carlton in 2011 after signing an International Rookie contract two years earlier.
He later move to Geelong and played alongside Kerry man Mark O'Connor and Mayo's former Young Footballer of the Year, Oisin Mullin.
Tuohy retired at the end of the 2024 season and has since released a book.
He has also expressed an interest in getting into AFL punditry and hasn’t ruled out coming home to Ireland to play football for Portlaoise.
The Australian 'I'm a Celebrity' had a previous winner from the AFL, when Brendan Fevola emerged victorious in the second series.
Fevola made headlines in Ireland back in 2006 when he was sent home by the Australian management from an International Rules trip after an incident in a Galway nightclub.
