Man killed after being hit by bus on Kildare motorway as gardai issue appeal to the public
Two passengers received non-life threatening injuries in the incident
A man has died in hospital after he was struck by a bus on the N7 motorway in Co Kildare on Saturday.
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound on the N7 motorway at Kill at approximately 3.30pm.
A pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was seriously injured in the collision and was rushed by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment.
Gardai confirmed that the man passed away this evening as a result of the collision, and that a post mortem will take place in due course.
The driver of the bus, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured while two passengers received non-life threatening injuries in the incident.
Gardai have said the N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound will remain closed overnight to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene, and local diversions are in place.
Gardai have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact authorities.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N7 motorway eastbound, at Kill, Co. Kildare this afternoon Saturday 1st November, 2025 at approximately 3.30pm.
"The collision occurred between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound on the N7 motorway and involved a bus and a pedestrian. A male pedestrian, aged in his 30s was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght University Hospital. He later passed away this evening as a result of the collision. A post mortem will take place in due course.
"The male driver (aged in his 30s) of the bus was uninjured and two passengers received non-life threatening injuries.
"The N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road will remain closed overnight and diversions are in place.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
"Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
