Tick off your checklist carefully so you don’t miss out on CAO offers

May 1st is this year’s deadline for all CAO applications to be submitted, including for students currently in college, as the exceptional late application facility is no longer available.
According to the CAO, 5,834 applications have been made since the February 1st deadline, bringing this year’s total to 89,258 applicants for third level places.
Of that number, almost 10% have yet to list any courses on their application.
Whether you have any courses listed on your application or not, this month, every CAO applicant will get an email from the CAO looking to confirm that the information that they have on record is correct. Taking the time to make sure that there are no errors in the Statement of Application Record is vital, because errors can and do result in no offers being made and students missing out on college places.
Read the instructions in your email from the CAO.
Log on to your online CAO account and check…double check…..and check again that all of your personal details, examination information, supporting documentation / exemptions (if any) and course choices are recorded correctly.
It is recommended to have another adult with you while doing this as a second pair of eyes may spot an error that you miss.
If there are errors or information is missing, this must be corrected. There is no cost to this.
When you have checked everything, scroll to the bottom of the CAO account page and click CONFIRM to state that you have checked the information details and they are correct.
CAO will send a message to your email or online account correspondence section to acknowledge that you have made changes and/or confirmed your information is correct. Make sure you receive this confirmation from CAO.
After finishing this process, you can still add, remove or change the order of your course choices up to 5pm on 1 July using the Change of Mind facility. Changes can be made as many times as you like.
