Critical Outpost in Asia
The IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP) is an important outpost of the IMF in a dynamic region of 37 member economies. Established in 1997, it facilitates policy dialogue and capacity development in Asia as a leading peer-to-peer learning center, contributes to regional surveillance under the Asia-Pacific Department, and communicates the Fund’s message to the region.

Our Work
Policy Dialogue & Capacity Development
The Office facilitates policy dialogue among policymakers in the region and helps develop their expertise through high-level policy discussions, peer-to-peer learning experiences, engagement in regional fora, and the Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA).
Surveillance
The Office contributes to regional surveillance by monitoring and analyzing economic developments in the region.
Public Outreach
The Office hosts public seminars, joins public events, promotes career opportunities, and communicates IMF messages via various channels.

Capacity Development Centers
The IMF has established several training and capacity development centers in the region to strengthen member countries’ policymaking capacity.
