Best Classes - Race Tier List

By Lauren Harper, Jeffrey Lerman, Zack, +5 more
updatedDec 5, 2025

Rerolling your race and looking for the best class to pick in The Forge? I'm here to help. There are currently 13 classes to choose from, and the one you get is all down to luck. Only a few of the classes are designed for balanced gameplay and can be used with any build, so I've put together this Tier List. In this guide, I'll explain the pros and cons of each class, why I'd recommend ditching some races, and the best ones I think you should lock in and commit to if chance is on your side and you're able to get them.

S-Tier Races

  • Demon
  • Angel

It's no surprise that I'd consider the races that are least likely to appear in a reroll as the best class options in The Forge. I've put both the Angel and Demon classes in S-Tier because their skills offer a variety of boosts that impact overall gameplay. The passives are well-rounded and work with whatever equipment you have.

Demon

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Mythical 0.5%
  • Demonic Powers
  • Backfire
  • Cursed Aura
  • Devil's Finger

I think the Demon class is the strongest overall because it's so damage-focused with its passives. Demonic Powers, for example, gives you a boost to Movement Speed but mainly focuses on increasing Physical Damage, Fire Damage, and Attack Speed – all by 20%.

This is paired with Cursed Aura, which activates in combat, creating an area around you that will deal damage equivalent to 10% of your weapon each second. Devil's Finger can also result in a hellfire circle being created around you when you dash. There's only a 20% chance of this happening, but that's still fairly good odds. If it does trigger, you'll deal 45% of your weapon damage for a few seconds.

Then there is the Backfire passive. Backfire gives you a 25% chance to burn the enemy when damage is taken, so if you do manage to get hit, you have a 1 in 4 chance of retaliating passively.

Angel

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Mythical 0.5%
  • Wings
  • Mighty Clover
  • Smite
  • Holy Hand

Angel offers the biggest boost to Luck, at +25%. When compared to the Human class, which offers +3% Luck, and the Elf race with +7 Luck Boost, the Angel is unmatched. This makes all the difference when you're mining for ore and forging equipment, allowing you to craft stronger weapons and armor.

In addition to this, Wings gives the Angel huge boosts to movement speed, stamina, dash distance, cooldown, and jumping. All of these changes to movement make the Angel a high-mobility character.

The Angel definitely doesn't have as many attack boosts when compared to the Demon. But this is where Smite comes in. There's a 50% chance for it to trigger, resulting in 30% physical damage if it does.

A-Tier Races

  • Golem
  • Dragonborn
  • Minotaur

I've put three races in A-Tier, and that's the three Legendary classes. The reason I've ranked them slightly lower than S-Tier is that they don't have as many passives and overall boosts to gameplay as the Angel and Demon. However, they still have strong bonuses, so if you do land one, you'll certainly receive plenty of benefits.

Golem

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Legendary 12.5%
  • Tank
  • Heavy Hitter
  • Stone Heart

The Golem race is your typical tanky warrior class, and with that comes a slight reduction to movement speed. That's one of the cons of this class, as well as the limitations to your weapon selection.

If you want to make the most of the Golem race, you'll want to forge heavy weapons. That's because the Heavy Hitter passive gives you a 15% increase in Attack Speed, but only for heavy weapons.

The bonuses are that you'll get 30% additional health and an increase in size. Plus, Stone Heart will give you a 50% chance to reduce damage taken by 25%, giving the Golem extra defences.

Dragonborn

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Legendary 1.5%
  • Durable Scales
  • Sharp Fangs
  • Dragon's Breath

Dragonborn also gives you a boost to health in the form of a 20% increase to max HP. Once you're dealing with higher-level enemies, it's always useful to have additional health.

But the main reason I've also included this in the A-Tier list is because of its passives, which are focused on increasing damage output. Additional health paired with extra damage is always a great combination for making sure you win in a fight.

Sharp Fangs gives you an overall +12% to Physical Damage, and Dragon's Breath can deal 30% of your weapon's damage for a few seconds. There's just a 40% chance of this happening, and of course, it's dependent on your weapon, but this passive is just a weaker version of the Demon's Devil's Finger trait.

Minotaur

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Legendary 1.75%
  • Beast
  • Bull's Fury

The final A-Tier race is the Minotaur. Similar to the Golem and Dragonborn, the Minotaur also comes with a boost to health and damage. You'll see a 20% health increase with the Minotaur, as well as extra Height, Width, and Depth.

It's let down by its decrease in Movement Speed and Stamina, both seeing a reduction of 10%. But the reason I haven't rated it lower is because of the Bull's Fury passive. This will activate a Rage Mode if you get down to below 50% health, and will actually increase movement speed, almost cancelling out one of its cons. Rage Mode also gives you a 30% increase to Physical Damage, so it's worth staying in the fight and taking the blows.

B-Tier Races

  • Orc
  • Shadow

Beyond the five classes I've ranked in S-Tier and A-Tier, I think a lot of the races start to suffer. Lots of them have limited skills that are specific to equipment or situations, making them less well-rounded than the others. The only two I think that stand out more than the others are the Orc and Shadow classes.

Orc

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Rare 8%
  • Heavy
  • Muscular

Similar to the Golem and the Minotaur, the Orc suffers a loss of Stamina and Movement Speed. But this time, there's no passive that can make up for the 10% reduction, making the Orc weaker.

But if you're not bothered by mobility and are comfortable playing as a Tank character, the Orc does have the benefit of increased health with a 15% boost and 10% extra Physical Damage. Again, the combination of better health and Physical Damage is good for helping you take down enemies and live to fight another day.

Shadow

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Epic 6%
  • Shadow Pact
  • Phantom Step

Despite being an Epic class, I think the Shadow class is in the same league as the Orc. Its strengths are the boost to Movement Speed, Physical Damage, and Attack Speed, but they're only slight.

The main downside of this class is the 10% reduction in health, and the Phantom Step passive, which has such a small chance to activate and help you dodge an attack.

C-Tier Races

  • Elf
  • Zombie
  • Goblin
  • Undead
  • Dwarf

As I mentioned, there are a lot of classes in The Forge that I think are weak because they're limited. The passives for these races are either too focused on one skill or are also useful in particular situations.

Elf

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Uncommon 15%
  • Superior Genes
  • Glorious

The only reason Elf hasn't been dropped down into D-Tier is because of its Luck Boost. At 7%, the Elf race gives you a good chance to forge solid weapons and find some rarer ore. It also has increased Stamina at +15%, but other than that, there's no real reason to play the Elf class.

Zombie

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Uncommon 15%
  • Rotten
  • Mutated Genes
  • Absorb

The Zombie takes the biggest hit to health with -25%, but its other two passive skills make up for this. Mutated Genes will give you health regeneration every 5 seconds, and Absorb allows you the chance to convert damage into health.

There's no boost to attack, movement, or anything else, which is why the Zombie falls into C-Tier. You'll need to dip out of fights with this race, but you can at least recover quickly and jump back in.

Goblin

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Rare 10.5%
  • Tiny
  • Sneaky
  • Bargain

The Goblin sees quite a big reduction in health at -15%. This is quite a con, but the only reason this doesn't put it into D-Tier is because of the Sneaky passive, which gives you a +10% Attack Speed. However, this only applies to daggers, so you'll need to consider your build.

Undead

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Rare 8%
  • Fragile Bones
  • Sharp Surface
  • Second Chance

The best bit about the Undead race is its survivability. You'll be penalised by a 12% decrease in health thanks to the Fragile Bones trait, but Sharp Surface and Second Chance can make up for this.

Sharp Surface lets you reflect 10% of damage taken, which is handy when you're already in a weakened state with Fragile Bones. Second Chance, meanwhile, refills your health by 50% when it drops to below 10%. Be warned, though, as this only triggers every few minutes, so you still need to be careful.

Dwarf

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Epic 7%
  • Heavy Short
  • Gifted Miner
  • Critical Mining

The Dwarf is an epic class, but its passives are so focused on mining. While mining for ore is, of course, something you'll spend plenty of time doing in The Forge, it doesn't require you to play as such a limited class.

With the Dwarf race, you'll get an increase to Mining Damage and a chance to deal 50% damage to rocks with the Critical Mining skill. The best part of the Gifted Miner passive is the 5% chance at a Better Forge, but it's such a small number, it's not worth keeping this class for too long.

D-Tier Races

  • Human

There's only one race I'd put in D-Tier, and it's unfortunately the one most likely to appear when rolling. It's not that it's a "bad" choice – it just offers the least in terms of passive skills and is only really good for starting your journey in The Forge.

Human

Rarity Chance to Reroll Traits
Common 25%
  • Blessed

If the Human race is the first one you roll when you start The Forge, it's no problem! It's a solid starting class while you get familiar with the experience and gameplay.

Human has just one trait, which is Blessed. But the small boost to Luck and additional XP that comes with it will help you uncover a variety of ore, craft solid starting weapons and armor, and make good progress to leveling up.

However, as soon as you finish the tutorial and can change classes at the Wizard, you'll want to leave the Human race behind and hope you reroll a stronger choice.

Reroll Codes

Now that you've got a better idea of the race to choose, you might need some rerolls to swap your class. Well, you're in luck. We have a Codes Page for The Forge, where you get free rerolls and other goodies.
