Civilization 5 Guide

Sid Meier's Civilization V is the fifth major installment in Firaxis' turn-based strategy franchise, released in September of 2010. As with every previous game in the series, players step into the shoes of a mighty leader, leading an empire from its humble beginnings to the year 2050.

Unlike the mechanics of its predecessors, Civilization V employs the use of hexagonal tiles to diversify gameplay. Consequently, the title lacks "stacked units" (i.e. military units cannot occupy the same tile on the map at any time). The title features a more realistic art style, including comparatively realistic interactive cutscenes through which players manage their civilization's diplomacy. Religion and espionage were initially removed from the franchise, but will make a return in the expansion pack God & Kings.
