This is an exciting development, but also one that raises a lot of questions. Will we actually see the Ghost crew (and Maul!) interact with Obi-Wan? Obi-Wan seemed to have mostly lived a simple existence in-between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but Rebels may be adding some very notable developments to this period of his life. It’s a risky thing, because it needs to feel like it makes sense with what we know, but I have confidence in Dave Filoni and his collaborators to make it work. The return of the unique Darksaber was really fun, and on an episode not focused on her, it was great to have this intriguing touch for Sabine, as she took the weapon for herself at the end – a notable move given its connection not just to the Mandalorians in general, but specifically Clan Vizsla.
Setting the episode on Dathomir was another huge connection to The Clone Wars and some of that show's best and darkest stories – and it was a great touch to have Meredith Salenger (who voiced The Clone Wars’ Barriss Offee) and Anna Graves (who voiced Satine) as the two Nightsisters possessing Kanan and Sabine. Speaking of Satine, it was a suitably creepy touch that Maul kept a portrait of the woman he’d murdered with the Darksaber in the same room he kept the Darksaber. In fact, this episode had a lot of effectively unsettling touches, such as when the possessed Sabine crawled like a spider along a wall.
