HISD is set to debut a new district-operated virtual school, named “Virtual Launchpad,” serving ninth and tenth graders in the 2026-27 school year. The program is aimed at students performing on grade level, but who have outside commitments that make traditional school schedules challenging. 

At the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, Houston ISD will implement a series of campus closures in response to years of declining enrollment and aging facilities.
