Lewis Hamilton's full denim fit is the right kind of weird

Lewis Hamilton has helped steer Formula 1 into a much cooler, hype-ier place – especially in such matters of menswear. Back in the days of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, F1 was all about jumpsuits stitched with millions of tiny logos. Everyone basically wore the same thing. Now, the paddock is a straight-up fashion show.

While heading to final practice at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, Hamilton stepped out in a brown acid-wash jacket with the collar popped up and the zip halfway down. With big, boxy shoulders, trippy stitching, and straps around the wrists, he doubled down on the vibe with matching wide-leg jeans that puddled around his boots. A little Westerncore. A little apocalypse chic. If the fit feels familiar, it's probably because you clocked it during PFW in June at the IM Men S/S '26 show – Issey Miyake's more experimental menswear offshoot.

That collection was built to move. Models didn't just glide; they stretched, twisted, and shifted so the clothes could show what they can do off the hanger. Hamilton's jacket and jeans sit within the ‘Elements’ series and were originally styled with matching shoes (which he swapped for his trusty Timbs).

Hamilton isn't just wearing fashion's future, he's pushing the culture of the sport there too. In a 2024 interview, he told British GQ: “There's always been a real synergy between fashion and Formula 1. It was tough coming into the paddock while finding my own style. Recently, though, it's been really cool to see other drivers coming out of their shells. They've obviously gone to their teams and said, ‘Hey, I want to wear my own stuff into the track.’”

So if you're wondering where menswear is heading next season, don't bother squinting at press releases or screenshotting runway clips. Just look at what Lewis Hamilton's wearing to work.
