eddie and bella warmed me. and gave me an excuse to cry when i needed to
this was meant to be a filler book, to tide while i read something heavier but that's such a disservice to what it let me have
i cant really rate this book it frustrated me for more than the first quarter, but i warmed up to it and then the frustration over the first part eveni cant really rate this book it frustrated me for more than the first quarter, but i warmed up to it and then the frustration over the first part even left me
what i really enjoyed about this book was the voice sometimes, i'm overly aware of the pen behind the voice, of a 1st person narrative being a narrative though this was fiction, I truly felt like I was reading the character's selected words and yes, I'm aware this sounds a little silly; every book carries the author in it, etc but the disappearance of the puppeteer of who I was witnessing act on the page was really cool and this stuck out to me particularly because sometimes the writing, the vocabulary and themes were *tiresome* but as I kept reading, I was repeatedly hooked to certain passages grew to know and be so fond of the narrators and other characters the tiresomeness is part of her, part of every person the cost of closeness and having a village is inconvenience, annoyance, boredom, tiresomeness, and still being HELD by the bright pockets through them

old man called ove (with less redeemable qualities) meets funny story (the protagonist's tropes but less compelling and an over written make character whose trope arc was too self aware the secondary characters were not truly relegated to secondary treatment which saved this book maisey saved this book mateo offered some interesting moments but his arc and character could often lean too hard into the trope and at time he lacked exposition which would have really helped our experience of his character
the reveal at the end about arthur's life was underwhelming and didn't really deliver
