Such Sheltered Lives

For fans of Nine Perfect Strangers and The Midnight Feast, a moody, atmospheric psychological suspense set in the secretive world of celebrity rehab centers, from New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Sheinmel.

Rush’s Recovery promises its wealthy guests the utmost discretion. But when a body is discovered, how long can the center’s secrets stay buried?

Tucked among the pristine beaches and lavish manors of the Hamptons sits Rush’s Recovery, a rehabilitation center where ultra-high net worth clients can seek treatment away from prying eyes and paparazzi. The center’s latest guests have just Lord Edward of Essex, a British aristocrat fighting his black-sheep status and a painful addiction; Amelia Blue Harris, the daughter of a 90s rock legend struggling with an eating disorder; and Florence Bloom, a pop star trying to lay low after her latest tabloid scandal. Each has been promised the highest standard of care, from daily therapy and a live-in chef to acupuncture sessions and a personal care manager, available 24/7. Just so long as they stay in their private cottages and never interact with the center’s other guests.

But these three self-destructive B-listers have no intention of playing by the rules. No amount of cold plunges and talk-therapy can prevent Florence’s illicit flirtation with a staff member, or keep Amelia Blue and Lord Edward from sneaking out to wander the snow-covered grounds at night. Celebrities check in to Rush’s Recovery to protect their privacy, but the darkest secrets may lie in the center’s own history—and not every guest will be checking out alive.

A slow-boiling tale of psychological suspense with a literary fiction feel, Such Sheltered Lives took a close look at mental health, addiction, privilege, self-worth, and family in quite the thought-provoking way. You see, not only did it tackle some serious topics such as drug abuse and anorexia, but it did so with sensitivity and care. On top of that, though, this character-driven story delivered some humdinger twists and eye-popping turns. Did I guess the first massive revelation before it was revealed? Well…yes. But that was mostly down to my insatiable appetite for all things suspense. After all, the subtle hints and nuanced shading were exceptionally well done. Paired with an atmospheric setting, layers of mysteries, and plenty of drama, it was no surprise at all that I finished this book in one single sitting.

All said and done, despite a slow-burning first two-thirds and writing that initially came off as somewhat dense, I found myself immersed in the claustrophobic feel of the well-plotted storyline. Neither of those were what kept me flying through the pages at speed, however. You see, with realistically flawed characters fighting true-to-life struggles, not only was this adult debut perfect for fans of Liane Moriaty or Kimberly McCreight, but it had me tied up in knots over these expertly penned individuals. Complex, confounding, and messy, while I initially found them unlikeable, they ultimately ended up winning me over completely. So if you love plot-shifting twists, wealthy people behaving badly, and tons of long-buried secrets, you needn’t look any further because you’ve found them all right here. Rating of 4 stars.

Rush’s Recovery caters to the ultra-elite who need privacy and discretion while battling their demons. Some come for treatment for addiction, some for eating disorders, some to avoid scandal, and some to explore trauma. What better place to bear your soul than in a rehabilitation center set in a lavish and beautiful location.

The guests consist of Lord Edward of Essex who is fighting an addiction; Amelia Blue Harris who is struggling with an eating disorder; and Florence Bloom is a pop star with a tabloid scandal. Will they get the help they need, or will they self-destruct while enjoying all the center has to offer. Each will have their own POV, which is a nice touch.

I enjoyed the setting and the atmosphere in this book. I also enjoyed the look at rehab; the many reasons people check in and some of the reasons why people do not check out. Everyone has a secret; some secrets are bigger than others. There are also drama and tension throughout the book. I also enjoyed the mystery of the dead body on the beach.

This book was not fast moving, nor was it slow. Such Sheltered Lives is less than 300 pages but it felt much longer. While I enjoyed it, I didn't quite connect with any of the characters or feel for any of them. I had high hopes for this book and while it didn't quite wow me, it was an enjoyable and dramatic read.

Thank you to Atria/Emily Bestler Books and Edelweiss who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

I checked into this book for a detox from boring thrillers and promptly relapsed after chapter one.🏥

Alyssa Sheinmel’s Such Sheltered Lives is a frosty, Hamptons set psychological suspense that turns the celebrity rehab trope into a locked compound mystery. Rush’s Recovery part spa, part sanitarium, all secrecy, hosts only three guests at a time: Amelia Blue, rock royalty daughter battling anorexia; Lord Edward of Essex, aristocratic mess with a bottle for a best friend; and Florence Bloom, a scandal shadowed pop star. The amenities read like a wellness menu, cold plunges, acupuncture, personal care managers, but the place has more skeletons 💀 than the walk-in freezer. When a body surfaces, discretion goes from house rule to hazard.

The setting is the star. Rehab fiction can feel cliché, but this facility is mapped with clinical precision: private cottages, staff protocols, slippery “boundaries,” and that hush hush donor polish that money sprays over rot. I loved inhabiting the day to-day intakes, therapy rhythms, midnight wanderings through snow, that steady drip of process becomes its own tension IV. The trauma backstories land with care; they aren’t gawky confessionals so much as case notes that slowly color motive and risk.

Confession time: I’m usually not a multi-POV fan. Head hopping can feel like group therapy where everyone talks but no one connects. Here, though, the perspectives act like security cameras, limited, angled, occasionally unreliable and the overlaps generate friction instead of fog. Do I wish we’d stayed longer with one voice? Yes. But the rotating viewpoints pay off in the back half, where reveals click like pill organizers. Call it a 12-step to a satisfying finale.

Sheinmel keeps the prose moody and restrained, letting status anxieties and clinician doublespeak do the jump scaring. The plot serves twists with proper aftercare, no shock for shock’s sake and a couple reveals genuinely reframe earlier “progress notes.” Pacing wise, the first third is a slow, therapeutic taper; once the death drops, we’re on a controlled release thriller that still hits hard.

Bottom line: atmospheric, cleverly structured, and rehab real enough to sting. Even as a multi POV skeptic, I found the format justified by the mystery mechanics, and the twists delivered without requiring narrative Narcan. Fans of Nine Perfect Strangers and Lucy Foley’s The Midnight Feast should absolutely book a stay, just don’t unpack.🧳

ARC for review. To be published January 20, 2026.

Rush’s Recovery is a very chichi rehab for the stars and the rich. There are only enough cottages for three “guests” at a time and the story follows Amelia Blue, the daughter of rock royalty, who has anorexia, Lord Edward of Essex, a naughty playboy there for alcoholism and Florence, a has-been rock star who was just involved in a scandal.

The three are not cooperative patients and someone isn’t going to leave Rush’s Recovery alive.

This was a fairly standard thriller/people drama. It doesn’t delve deeply into the addictions/issues of the guests, so you’ll wonder what the purpose of the rehab is. The story is more geared toward their secrets and their interactions with the staff and each other. It was just OK, nothing new here.

Ope, didn’t see that coming. A fun mystery about rich people behaving…. Like addicts trying to get well. Multi POV going to a remote extremely high end recovery center for the ultra wealthy. A member of the royal family, a rock star addict, and the daughter of popular musicians. Trigger warning for anorexia but in my opinion done very respectfully.

I really enjoyed this, I read it in one sitting because I simply had to know what happened next. Each character has secrets, has their own need for privacy, and has hangups regarding their less than loving upbringing. Each character has issues that led to their stunted maturity and need for recovery in their lives.

Throughout the story there are some twists I don’t see coming and a satisfying conclusion.

I really loved the unique premise of this one—following three patients’ POVs during an unconventional rehab stay was such an interesting setup. It gave a layered look at how each person handled their traumas and reasons for being there. That said, I wish we’d seen more actual therapy sessions to strengthen the plot and character development a bit.

The pacing also felt a little uneven—some parts dragged while others rushed past moments that could’ve given more depth to the storyline. And while I appreciated the attempt at suspense, the main “twist” didn’t quite surprise me (maybe I’ve just read too many versions of it before). In my opinion, this read more like a domestic drama with a side of mystery than a full-on thriller.

Overall, this is an entertaining read that kept me curious to see how everything would unfold. If you are thinking about reading this, definitely give it a try!

“ For fans of Nine Perfect Strangers and The Midnight Feast, a moody, atmospheric psychological suspense set in the secretive world of celebrity rehab centres.”

I absolutely love nine perfect strangers so you know for sure I requested this book after reading that 😂

I love a wellness retreat for the rich and famous, it goes from supposed to being tranquil and classy to such a diabolical mess it’s laughable 😆

Three problematic guests who’s lifestyles have given then a superiority complex and an inversion to following rules. They are supposed to stay in their separate cottages and be waited on hand and foot but of course they can’t listen and chaos ensues.

If you’re somebody who’s here for the drama then this book will work for you. Admittedly the characters aren’t likeable but that’s when you can actually really enjoy the drama and anything bad that may happen 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is my first book by this author and I found it entertaining, I thought it was fast paced and got to the action without dragging on. I would be interested in reading more of her work!

This slow burning thriller has reshaped how I view recovery centers, highlighting the inherent imbalance of power that can exist within them. The novel raises compelling questions about control, accountability, and trust. When authority is overextended, who do you believe?

The story unfolds at a deliberate, almost snail paced rhythm, making it best suited for readers with patience. That said, it also offers a front row look into the lives of the rich and privileged, adding an extra layer of intrigue. I also want to highlight the cover art, as the illustrator did an excellent job capturing the tone of the story. It looks exactly how I imagined it while reading. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy methodical tension and thought provoking themes.

i'm so sad to say that this book fell so flat for me. the premises sounded amazing: literally a thriller that's set in a recovery center for celebrities 🤭 sadly the insides of this book did not deliver. while i was interested in amelia's pov, i felt like everything else was just bland and boring.

B-list stars at a rehab-resort stay all have their own secrets and agendas - who can anyone trust?

I was hoping to feel a mystery to this one. It starts out interesting as they each arrive and begin their treatment. You soon learn their agendas and who is there and why but I never quite felt the pull. I definitely felt, in the middle, there was a much bigger focus on romance and budding relationships and I kind of lost that we were trying to track down clues. As things unfolded near the end, it got chaotic and confusing. I struggled to pull it all together in a way that made sense. Maybe this one was just bad timing but it just didn't quite work for me.

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Such Sheltered Lives by Alyssa Sheinmel. Thanks to @atriabooks for the gifted Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Three self-destructive B-celebrities have arrived at Rush’s Recovery center to get treatment away from the public eye. They have secrets but the center itself may as well.

I loved the celebrity rehab setting of this one. I thought there would be a lot of interaction amongst the guests but there was not quite as much as I thought. Each chapter is focused one of guests and it switches off. We get to know their personality and their history well but there’s still some shocks and twists at the end.

Such Sheltered Lives comes out 1/20.

Three famous people enter a rehab facility on an island, where they are promised anonymity. The are on an exclusive island, hanging out in their cottages when they began to explore the area. We aren’t sure what the real reasons are for their stay or what they have in common, but they begin to discover each other and the secrets they are hiding.

Thank you #NetGalley and Atria/Emily Bestler Books for giving me an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love the vibes of this book! Reminded me of The Clinic by Cate Quinn and Nine Perfect Strangers. The secluded rehab center catering to the upper class vibe was very well achieved. I enjoyed the editors note to the reader in the beginning too. I felt like it was very wholesome and like the editor truly cared about the book.

I felt like the plot around this was relevant to influencers and people I see on Instagram that go to rehab or detox centers.

I feel like the author didn’t do a good job at explaining whether each chapter was a day or if it was over a week. If that makes sense. I was kind of confused whether Amelia and Lord Edward were sneaking out every night or if each different chapter POV it was the next day. Ok after finishing the book I understand why the author didn’t make it a timeline. It made me appreciate what the author was trying to do by not giving readers an exact timeline and it was definitely a twist for me.

Speaking of twists, I did have an inkling about one of the major twists BUT it didn’t ruin the book for me. I still thoroughly enjoyed the other twists and turns this book took. I did think that the first half was a bit slow and the end was a little rushed. I would’ve loved to know more of the aftermath and a more deep dive into the character Sonja.

Overall I thought this was a good first novel for this author. I definitely think she could’ve made this book 100+ pages longer by diving into Sonja, the aftermath, and adding more news paper/media articles. 3.5 stars

A quietly chilling and unsettling domestic story. Such Sheltered Lives was about a young woman, Sylvie, who spent her life sheltered by her controlling, safety-obsessed mother, Elizabeth. After a tragic accident led to Elizabeth’s arrest, Sylvie was sent to live with her estranged sister, Rachel. As she adjusted to a world beyond her mother’s rules, Sylvie began to unravel dark truths about her past and the consequences of a life built on fear.

This was my first book by Alyssa Sheinmel, and overall, I found the story engaging. Like most novels, it had its strengths and weaknesses. I didn’t love the fragmented narrative—switching between timelines, interviews, and present-day reflections. While it mirrored Sylvie’s disoriented mindset, it sometimes made the story feel scattered. The pacing was slow, and with no major twists, the tension felt more emotional than suspenseful.

That said, I did enjoy the character-driven focus and the thoughtful look at mental illness and generational trauma. The unique format ultimately fit the story, capturing Sylvie’s fractured perspective and giving it a distinct edge from more traditional thrillers. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys slow-burn, emotionally complex psychological fiction and themes of mother-daughter relationships, trauma, and identity.

Wow! This is a really interesting mystery thriller set in a super exclusive, slightly off-kilter rehab in the Hamptons in the middle of winter. The characters are an aging pop star who is trying to rehab her image after a public tabloid feud, a British aristocrat with a painful addiction after a car accident, and the daughter of a 90s rockstar with an eating disorder. All three have secret reasons for being at this particular rehab center. But another mystery develops with vague, mysterious chapters about a body found dead on the beach. Is it one of them? Is it someone from the rehab's past? The personal mysteries unravel in a very satisfying way, and the pace really picks up in the last 30% of the book when the biggest mystery of all reveals itself. I won't give spoilers, but would suggest checking the tigger warnings if reading about eating disorders or drug use could be harmful for you. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for this honest review.

I was initially drawn to this book by the setting: a secluded rehab treatment center for rich celebrity clientele. Each chapter was told from the perspective of one of the three guests- Amelia Blue, daughter of a former rock musician, Lord Edward, a troubled royal, and Florence, a has been rock star. I would have liked if the story was more in depth regarding the character’s addictions/problems and the reasons they were there, but I felt like some of that was glossed over a bit.
I found myself wondering the purpose of this rehab program because it seemed like it was run by people who had no idea what they were doing.

Overall, this was a quick, easy read but fairly predictable and forgettable. I enjoyed it, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

Rush Recovery is a recovery centre for the rich and famous, tucked away in the Hamptons. The story revolves around Lord Edward, a British aristocrat, Amelia Blue, the daughter of a 90s rockstar who is battling an eating disorder, and Florence, a pop star struggling with her personal life. All the guests are problematic in some shape or form and all have secrets to hide.

This book is definitely more of a drama than a thriller. For me, it really lacked the elements of a thriller, namely, suspense. It's a bit of a slow burn, but despite this, it fails to really dive into the issues of the guests and character development is superficial at best. This was just an okay read for me. It is quick and the plot is generally entertaining, but it is unremarkable and predictable. If you are looking for a thriller, this probably isn't it. More of a drama reader? This will probably be up your alley.

On SUCH SHELTERED LIVES we follow three people, famous or somewhat famous, told by multiple POVs, on their rehab days at a very luxury and private recovery center in the Hamptons, during the winter. Each character has their own struggles, a heavy family drama background, their own pains and regrets and addictions, and we follow their stories and how they ended up there and why, and what's waiting for them outside in the real painful world.
We also get some in-between short chapters about other people making some statements and connections about a body found in the woods near this recovery center. In the end, all characters stories converge and we found out whose body was found in the woods and how connected it is to those characters.

This is a very character-driven story, I must say. It is slow-paced on purpose, and it is much more of a literary mystery other than a thriller.
The characters can be quite unlikable but that's what makes them, in my opinion, so realistic and easily to relate to. They're flawed and their flaws and struggles are real.
I also find this book to be very atmospheric and dense, and the fact that the story takes place during the winter it helps with the eerie and unsettling atmosphere.
The writing is compelling and engaging and if you care for the characters it'll make you root for them, feel their pain and empathise with them very easily.
Personally, I was most drawn to the characters Edward and Amelia. But I liked all of them, including the doctors. And fun fact: I loved how the doctors would call the patients their 'guests'. And I loved Amelia's remarks on that choice of words.

I'd recommend this book to any readers who are into slow-paced mysteries with unlikable characters going through realistic struggles - regardless of how privileged they are. Also, to read this book in the winter will probably enhance the unsettling and eerie atmosphere.

Thank you, NetGalley, for this uncorrected eproof ARC of 'Such Sheltered Lives" by Alyssa Sheinmel - expected release date of 01/20/2026.

ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book reminded me of Nine Perfect Strangers + Daisy Jones & The Six! The premise of the story drew me right in...Start with a secluded, anonymous, luxurious rehab facility for the wealthy, throw in some mysteries & shenanigans with the "guests" along with some shady business with the staff and that sounds like a great read to me.

This book paced well at the beginning and end but dragged a bit in the middle. The timeline was confusing at first (were hours, days, or weeks going by), but once the guests are fully explained, towards the end, I can see why the timeline was murky. There were a few twists, but the only super intriguing one to me was Florence's big reveal. This had a mystery feel, and everything was wrapped up nicely, no loose ends.

Such Sheltered Lives is a slow-burn literary suspense that digs deep into generational trauma, weaving themes of loss, love, and self-worth into the backdrop of a luxurious recovery center. The novel truly shines at Chapter 51 with a twist that reframes the narrative - I was fully hooked at that moment.

The characters are richly drawn, and Alyssa Sheinmel captures the complexities of recovery and family entanglements. However, I often found myself skimming through Georgia’s narrations, struggling to connect with her voice and feeling uncertain at times whether her perspective was set in the past or presented as that of a super-fan.

Overall, while the pacing was uneven, Sheinmel’s exploration of how trauma reverberates across generations was powerful and heartfelt. Readers who enjoy character-driven narratives with an eventual big payoff may find this worth the journey.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for inviting me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

It’s like this book was made for me! It could easily be one of my favorites of the year!

These people were so messy, but so likeable! I was rooting for all of them.

There are a lot of trigger warnings in this book, so I would look them up if you think it may bother you.

It was written fantastically. Everything was so vibrant and real: the characters and the setting. I was hooked from the first page and never lost interest throughout.

This could be a great movie or limited series!

There was a lot of introduction to this story, but I thought it was the proper amount so we could be introduced to the characters.

The retreat center was so sinister and scary! Which was the point, but still.

The characters were so human. They had their issues, but I felt for them and felt how they felt in any given moment. I liked how we knew a lot about them, but they were also unreliable narrators.

Florence was the least interesting character to me, I was kind of sad when it came to her POV, but mainly because I was so interested in Amelia and Edward. Her story picked up by the end, and it wasn’t bad by any means, I just wanted to see more of what Amelia and Edward were doing.

Part of that was because I really liked Amelia and Edward together romantically. I know they each had people they loved, but they understood each other. Sure they could just be good friends, but I’d like to think they find each other eventually. Even though I am happy for Edward and want him to be happy with his partner.

I felt so bad for Edward, I just wanted to hug him. He was really going through it and his family made me so mad. They were awful.

Amelia was very interesting. I felt for her struggles. It seemed like there was more to her than met the eye. I really liked her character arc. I thought it was pretty realistic. I am glad she got the answers she was searching for.

This was put together so excellently. One minute you think something’s happen when really it’s another thing. You really can only understand what I mean if you read it, but it was so good. The execution was perfect!

I loved how the beginning of what Amelia knew tied into the end of the book.

There were so many twists throughout. Most of them I didn’t guess, and one I did. But even the one I guessed didn’t take away from the story. I was more excited than anything to have guessed it. I like that there was enough foreshadowing that you could figure everything out if you wanted to.

Some things that kind of threw me off was the author continuously talking about people’s gaits. I sort of get why, but it didn’t need to be mentioned as often as it was. Also the lyrics to the songs weren’t that good, which surprised me because this book is written so well. There are so many lines I highlighted, but the lyrics just weren’t it. There were a couple that were good, but most of the time I wasn’t impressed. It just was a main part of the story, so I wish it was a little better. But it didn’t make me dislike the book overall at all.

This was just a fantastic book! I cannot stress enough that it is a must read!

3.5 out of 5 rounded up.

The first half of this book was a little slow moving and hard to get in to. I was confused on where the story was headed because it seemed like there were a lot of paths we could’ve gone down. However, once the pieces start fitting together, the story gains traction quick. I started to become really invested around the 50% mark.

I also didn’t enjoy any of the characters at first either. Some of the POV’s I was dreading reading through, but that also improved once we started figuring out what was going on. I started to become attached to the characters and rooting for them!

One thing I will say is this book gets very heavy. There were times when I had to put the book down because some scenes weighed very heavy on me. I would strongly recommend checking trigger warnings prior to reading.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. There were a few twists that I guessed but also some that did catch me off guard. I wish that some characters and plot points would have been flushed out just a little bit more for things to come full picture. I did get enough answers though to be satisfied with the ending of this book.

it’s giving nine perfect strangers but with a little more … conspiracy? 😅 I fear I wanted to like this one so much more than I actually did…

the retreat is made for celebrities to relax and recharge while healing themselves mentally and physically, but it’s also the last place amelia’s mother was before she died 👀 amelia’s quest for answers intersects with the other two “guests” at the resort and their own reasons for being there… which leads to a somewhat satisfying conclusion…

once again, I fear I read too many thrillers to be truly surprised anymore, so I guessed the main plot twist almost right away 🫠 and while I always enjoy figuring it out, the actual reveal was anticlimactic and didn’t really change the plot of the story at all…

the characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more, in my opinion, as they all felt superficial. and the conclusion itself didn’t actually change the course or prove anything in amelia’s life so as a reader, I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see the “after”

thank you to atria for the advanced copy!! if you’re new to thrillers, this is a great one to start the genre but if you’re a seasoned veteran like me, I’d pass 😩

Rush's Recovery is that LA/NYC mainstay, a five-star rehab facility for the wealthy. Our three main characters arrive, all with different mental health issues to resolve.

A very atmospheric and poignant book with very well drawn characters that I just wanted to give a big hug to! I enjoy multiple POV mysteries / suspense but I find that usually the character development is a bit weaker than I would like. Not so with Such Sheltered Lives. Sheinmel does the different “voices” well. Beautifully drawn characters that are familiar yet unique. I didn’t see most of the twists coming so the suspense / mystery element was on point and well done. I also love “locked-room” mysteries so this was very up my alley. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoyed multiple POV mysteries, suspense or thrillers.

This was my first book by Alyssa Sheinmel and I’m getting in line to read her next one. Thank you to NetGalley, Atria/Emily Bestler Books, and Alyssa Sheinmel for an ARC of Such Sheltered Lives.

3.5 ⭐️s rounded up to 4 ⭐️s

Rich people behaving badly like…rich people! 😅

Slow build up on this one through a little over the first half of the book, and then the twists start!! Some predictable, some not!! I think the addictions were portrayed well, and the character development was well done. I just wish the pace in the first half was a smidge faster, but overall it was an enjoyable read! 👏

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for my honest review! ❤️

You never know what anyone is going through , rich and poor alike .

Us lower class people like to think well what problems could they possibly have having all this money and fame? but not everything is as beautiful as it seems from the outside.

In this book you follow 3 B listers who decide to check themselves into the best rehabilitation center money can buy . but its not at all what it seems with so much going on behind the scenes. Not only are they trying to figure out whats causing them to be the way they are but will they even make it out of this center let alone overcome the obstacles their own brain makes?

quotes:

He treats each patient exactly the same, no matter their background. After all, they say death is the great equalizer, coming to the rich and poor alike.

It's not true that painkillers eliminate pain. They only make it seem far away, as if it's happening to someone else and you have no choice but to watch.

Alyssa Sheinmel’s Such Sheltered Lives is a smart, layered thriller that had me hooked from the start. The pacing is tight, the characters are complex, and the writing keeps you questioning what’s real and what’s being carefully concealed. It’s the kind of book that makes you lean in closer with every chapter, waiting for the secrets to unravel.

The twist was especially well done—satisfying without being over the top, and it made me rethink everything I thought I knew about the characters. At times the story felt a little insular, but in a way that worked for the theme and tone. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC—Such Sheltered Lives is a suspenseful, twisty read that delivers on both atmosphere and surprise. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
