Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves McConaughey have been married for over a decade and are the parents of three kids.
The McConaugheys are the parents of two sons, Levi and Livingston, and one daughter, Vida.
Matthew McConaughey has said that being a father is the role he most wanted in life.
"The only thing I ever knew I wanted to be was a father, and it's remained the pinnacle for me," the actor told People in 2020. "Being a dad was always my only dream ... I can't think of anything being more important."
In 2025, the couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. They wed on June 9, 2012, after first meeting in 2006.
To mark their anniversary, Matthew McConaughey shared a video on Instagram of he and his wife laughing through a moment where they forget how long they've been married, captioning the video, "we may forget the date but try to remember the meaning #happyanniversary."
Matthew McConaughey has described his parenting style as "tough love," telling Town & Country magazine in 2020, "Sometimes loving your kids means giving them just what they want. Other times it means tough love."
"Affluent people can give their kids everything they want, but they’re not usually going to get what they need," the actor continued. "Loving a child is a lot harder if you really give a damn. 'No' takes a lot more energy. It’s a lot easier to say 'yes.'"

Levi Alves McConaughey
Born on July 7, 2008, Levi is the couple’s first child.
Levi has followed his father's acting footsteps, taking on roles in "Way of the Warrior Kid" and "The Lost Bus," which he stars in alongside his dad.
In a red carpet interview at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival, Levi shared the acting advice he's received from his Oscar-winning dad.
"He gave me a lot of advice, and he was able to mentor me in a couple different ways," Levi told People. "But I'd say the main thing for acting, and pardon my French, is no bulls--- in your bones, and own what you're doing, and make a choice regardless if that ends up being the right one or the wrong one -- commit to it and know what you're saying."
In an interview with People in 2020, McConaughey shared that Levi developed a passion for music from a young age.
"Basically he came out of the womb knowing a minor from major key on the piano," the actor said at the time. "In the last six months, he really got into listening to composers, and he now can listen to a movie and tell you, 'Oh, that's Hans Zimmer,' or 'That's John Williams,' which is really cool."
In 2023, Matthew McConaughey and Camila McConaughey welcomed Levi to social media on his 15th birthday. In a video post introducing Levi to the platform, the actor said of his son, "He knows who he is, and he knows where he's going. I think he can handle it. He's got a great story to tell and share."
Levi has also shared his love for Matthew McConaughey on the public platform. In honor of the actor’s 54th birthday in November 2023, the teenager paid tribute to his dad in an Instagram post.
"People know Matthew Mcconaughey as an Actor and now a writer, but I know him as my father," Levi wrote in the caption. "The man who always makes time for us no matter what, the man who’s always there for us no matter what, and the man that taught me to appreciate the journey and not just the destination."
"The journeys just getting started…," he added. "Happy birthday Papai."
In July 2025, Matthew McConaughey celebrated Levi's birthday with a tribute on Instagram, writing, "navigating your own way has been one of my greatest privileges. on the porch of manhood. wiser than you were, not as wise as you will be, sure is fun being where your supposed to be. happy 17th son."
Vida Alves McConaughey
The second child of the couple, Vida was born on Jan.3, 2010.
Vida also appears to be following in her actor dad's footsteps, gaining an acting credit in 2021 for playing a small role in McConaughey’s movie, "Sing 2."
On her 15th birthday in 2025, Matthew McConaughey took to Instagram to wish Vida a happy birthday, writing, "Vida. 15 years. Thanks for being my tech guru, so savvy, and for loving to grow things. Love Papai."
Camila McConaughey also shared a tribute on Instagram, writing of her daughter, "Yesterday this force of a girl turned 15! May you never forget that the first person to love is YOU….Your name says it all…Vida! We love you so much words can not express! 💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛."
Earlier in the year, Matthew McConaughey watched a University of Texas women's basketball game with Vida in Austin on Jan. 23.
Livingston Alves McConaughey
Matthew and Camila McConaughey welcomed their third child Livingston on Dec. 12, 2012.
The couple celebrated Livingston's 12th birthday in 2024 with tributes on Instagram.
"12 today!!! it is an absolute honor to be your mom! 💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛," Camila McConaughey wrote on Instagram alongside photos of herself and Livingston at a soccer game.
Matthew McConaughey shared photos of Livingston by his side at a University of Texas football game, writing, "at a dozen, my son and teammate. To many more wins in life. with love, Papa."
