First two episodes were surprisingly good. Wasn’t all that thrilled about the cast announcements at first, but put together, they have a nice chemistry with one another in the sew room and challenges. A non-elimination season though, ugh. This was fine for the all-winners season, b/c what critiques can really be given to Jinkx, Raja, or Shea Couleé at this stage? But Jorgeous? Vanjie? Angeria? They certainly aren’t above criticism, or whatever light nitpicks Ross Matthews and Michelle Visage dish out at them for “fairness.” No kumbaya seasons, ever! The “Drag Queens Save the World” number was cute, but overlong. The paint ball episode was much better, and not too many misses in the created looks! Except Nina West’s, which looked like a preschooler made it. Totally her aesthetic, and still garbage. I’ll give Angeria some credit for turning out the Whitney lip-sync in an awful remix, since Jorgeous didn’t understand the song and was dancing around like an idiot. The Harry Belafonte number was … curious. Plastique’s dead eyes aside, I still might have chosen her over Gottmik, but they were the clear top two for the episode, at least. A charity season makes all of this super-low stakes, but we’ll take the drama and gags where we can get them. Very early, so it’s hard to tell who the frontrunners are and who will be aided at the end by production like Monét and Shea were when they faltered with one star apiece near the end of their season. I would like to think it’s finally Roxxxy Andrews’s time for the crown, but I have a gut feeling a new girl will win instead of a veteran.
