It’s never too early to start predicting next year’s Oscars! Will the Best Actor award go to another repeat winner like Adrien Brody or will a newbie claim the gold approximately 12 months from now? Give us your hot takes!
ReplyMarch 5, 2025 at 2:37 am #1206169941Paul Mescal – Hamnet/ The history of sound
March 5, 2025 at 5:35 am #1206169965Robert Pattinson, Mickey 17.
Is the more international membership open to dark scifi comedies? I think, yes.
Doesn’t explain why Chris Hemsworth was overlooked for Furiosa, but one can hope. The Sunne in Splendour.

Doesn’t explain why Chris Hemsworth was overlooked for Furiosa, but one can hope.In addition to the genre bias he’d have to overcome the early-year release hurdle. I’d be very surprised if he was nominated.
March 5, 2025 at 7:43 am #1206170026I hope we get a new winner and not a repeat! I love seeing other actors take the Gold 🙂
March 5, 2025 at 11:21 am #1206170256THE ROCK versus Leonardo DiCaprio could be very interesting. Especially since they want to make that Martin Scorsese movie in the future
March 5, 2025 at 1:46 pm #1206170445Jaafar Jackson playing his uncle Michael Jackson absolutely screams Oscar bait
March 5, 2025 at 2:06 pm #12061704701. Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another)
2. Christian Bale (The Bride)
3. Daniel Day-Lewis (Anemone)
4. Colin Farrell (A Big Bold Beautiful Journey)
5. Jeremy Allen White (Deliver Me From Nowhere)
March 5, 2025 at 2:33 pm #1206170515This Michael Jackson biopic looks like it could be a huge box office success and Universal would throw a really strong campaign for it. I’m predicting Jaafar to win at this very early stage
March 5, 2025 at 7:01 pm #12061706701. Jeremy Allen White, Deliver Me From Nowhere

I think you’ve got the wrong actor listed for Highest 2 Lowest. It seems like Denzel’s playing the Toshiro Mifune-inspired role from the original Kurosawa film. Even if ASAP Rocky’s technically the lead, Denzel would probably be listed in Best Actor on account of his bigger renown with audiences.

For now, I have D-Wash in Supporting. Spike Lee has specifically stressed that ASAP is “the lead” and thus it seems unlikely that he would be campaigned in Supporting. But of course it’s possible that he and D-Wash could both compete in Lead.
We shall see 🙂
