Not Like Us didn’t feel like a ROTY/SOTY winner last year because we had no idea the Academy could be based like that. We thought the anti-rap bias would prevail.

But it looks like voters have overcome it. So Kendrick will easily sweep unless Bad Bunny’s narrative grows stronger (by that I mean Trump does something even more wicked involving latinos).

there is no anti rap bias that could prevail against 5-6 pop nominees killing eachother on the voting, this year the same wont probably happen again

    RE: Gaga & Sabrina

Gaga is a Pop field darling. Period.

But if she couldn’t win with DWAS and Shallow, she won’t win with Abracadabra.

And y’all are hope-predicting Sabrina. She’s also not the type of popstar that gets awarded in the GF.

Remember when Don’t Start Now lost ROTY? Snobbish voters won’t vote for Sabrina.

Signs to watch out for if new voters are having a major impact: Bad Bunny in all 3 GF.
Anitta & The Weeknd in Pop Duo? Lmao

    BTW WEDNESDAY

Sabrina Carpenter’s latest lead single “Manchild” for the SECOND TIME ever did less than 2 million daily streams on the Spotify Global chart yesterday (150 days since its release).

Olivia Rodrigo’s “vampire” only dropped below 2 million daily streams 179 days after its release, on CHRISTMAS day (December 25th).
    — An almost 4 minute piano ballad.

Wednesday didn’t even do anything this time. They didn’t mention Olivia (who’s irrelevant to this year’s Grammys) this time round. And they didn’t give a Spotify update either. Just say you don’t agree about Abracadabra being like sports car instead of making a bad faith comparison to a song that isn’t even in contention for the 2026 Grammys.

I think São Paulo happening would show more The Weeknd support than latino support. Bad Bunny and Anitta kinda don’t have the same audience due to the cultural differences between Brazilians and Hispanics.

The concept of a post-snub The Weeknd with a way weaker and come and gone album getting Anitta a Pop field nom with a Brazilian funk

(And Benito would’ve easily entered – and competitive for the win – in Pop Solo too, had “DtMF” been submitted there)

The Latin Academy includes portuguese music though.

The 2027 Grammys should be also noticed when it comes to the Latin members joining.

As Rosalía is coming with another groundbreaking and acclaimed record, hopefully she gets into AOTY next year. Motomami was robbed but we could make an excuse as UVST had sales on its favor and they would’ve never nominate two non-English albums in AOTY… just like the Oscars didn’t in BP up until Anatomy of a Fall/The Zone of Interest.

They academy wants Bad Bunny to win AOTY. The invitation for all Latin Grammy voters is not a coincidence at all

True but as a Brazilian who loves Bad Bunny’s music, trust me. I said that with tears in my eyes. haha There’s a reason why Brazilian music is placed in Global Music and not Latin categories at the American Grammys.

She has the snub narrative too after earlier this year.

Billie Eilish has 9 Grammys (including a complete big four sweep and TWO ROTY/SOTY wins) and 2 Oscars, all of which she managed to win at just 22.

    There’s no snub narrative.

Hit Me Hard and Soft was a return to form as far as pop stardom goes and Billie went home-empty. I can definitely picture some voters taking the opportunity to reward her era after it has proved its staying power. Regardless, Wildflower feels much more like a dark horse than Abracadabra.

Olivia has nothing to do, but regarding the BPVA situation unfolding, Sabrina has an album that spent already 9 weeks Top5 on Billboard 200, the other main pop contenders did 3(Tate) or 2(Gaga,The Weeknd). Tate is not even a contender if the surveys are confirmed and Justin seems on the risk of being snubbed, that’s why I think Sabrina has a good standing right now, but she needs more than that to convince people to vote for her again. She needs to go hard with final round voting. Gaga also has a good standing and The Weeknd may get some random support after his snub, so it is not easy to predict. 💋 💋 💋

It seems that the academy and industry really wants Benito to win, and with the political situation it’s not hard to understand why. Him winning AOTY would be the most talked-about subject of the night and week, more than anyone else winning AOTY or any other award and then you conect this with his SB following the nextfew days, it makes sense, even if it doesnt happen at all.

I think the academy might have the feeling that Kendrick has already been awarded enough this year.
