Netflix's In Your Dreams trailer, Keke Palmer joins Spaceballs 2
Netflix

Gold Derby's top news stories for June 12, 2025.

In Your Dreams trailer
Netflix has unveiled its new animated film — an Inside Out-y exploration of the unconscious called In Your Dreams. Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Craig Robinson, Simu Liu, and Cristin Milioti star in the movie, which is set to hit the streamer on November 14.

The Spaceballs strike back
Deadline has new details on the sequel to Mel Gibson's Star Wars riff, which was announced last year and written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad with Josh Greenbaum directing. Bill Pullman and (shockingly) the mostly retired Rick Moranis will reprise their roles and join Keke Palmer, a new addition to the ensemble.

The Motion Picture Association to be honored
The American Cinematheque has announced that it will fete the Motion Picture Association (MPA) this November with the Power of Cinema Award, in recognition of its achievements advocating for the film industry. MPA chairman and CEO Charles H. Rivkin will accept the award on behalf of the organization at the event, which will be held on November 20. "Under Charlie’s visionary stewardship, the MPA has navigated a rapidly evolving entertainment landscape, advocating for the rights of creators and supporting the growth of international markets," said AC board chairman Rick Nicita in a statement. Commented Rivkin, “Audiences everywhere love great stories, well told – and like the American Cinematheque, the MPA proudly supports the studios, creators, casts, and crews behind extraordinary filmmaking, and empowers them to bring their imaginations to life." At the event, Michael B. Jordan is slated to receive the American Cinematheque award, which was previously announced last month.

Mister Miracle TV series in the works
Acclaimed comic books writer Tom King (also working on HBO's Lanterns) is set to run an animated adaptation of his Eisner-winning Mister Miracle series.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 trailer
Those crazy kids Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad are at it again. The final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will premiere on Prime Video on July 16.
