Lady Gaga is stepping into Prada. The Grammy- and Oscar-winning artist is set to appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and was reportedly spotted on set in Milan. Earlier this year, she appeared in an episode of Netflix's Wednesday and is currently on the road with her Mayhem Ball Tour.
Here's everything we know so far about The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Backstory
Fans of the iconic 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada have long hoped for a sequel, and now the wait is officially on. On July 1, 2025, Disney-owned 20th Century Studios confirmed that The Devil Wears Prada 2 had begun production and will hit theaters on May 1, 2026. The news was confirmed via Instagram.
The timing of the announcement was auspicious, coming days after the news broke that Anna Wintour, the legendary editor and inspiration behind Prada's titular devil, was stepping down from her role at Vogue.
Original stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will all be reprising their roles. However, Adrian Grenier, who played Hathaway's boyfriend, in the original film, will not be returning for the sequel, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Joining the ensemble are Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall, Helen J Chen, Pauline Chalamet and Kenneth Branagh, who will reportedly be playing Miranda's husband.

Who are the filmmakers?
Rumors of a sequel have swirled for years, but momentum picked up significantly in mid-2024. In July, sources confirmed that a follow-up was in development, with Aline Brosh McKenna returning to write the screenplay. Director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman, who were instrumental in crafting the original film, are also returning in the same roles for the sequel.
What's the plot?
In July, Hathaway shared the first glimpse of her character from the set and simply captioned "Andy Sachs 2025,” the shot features a beaming Hathaway standing in what appears to be a gallery or fashionable office space.
No word yet on what Andy has been doing since the events of the first film, where she quit her intense gig at the fashion magazine Runway, run by Streep's demonic fashionista Miranda Priestley, for a newspaper job. Presumably their new dynamic will be a key part of the sequel.
According to reports, the new film checks in with Priestly, who still runs the fashion magazine Runway, but now has to navigate a brave new world of online publishing and social media influencers. She is also forced to reunite with Blunt's character, Priestly's former conniving assistant who is now running a luxury brand.
“Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do?” Blunt recently told Entertainment Tonight when asked about the sequel. “We always have beef with each other. I don’t know what it is. Let’s hope we remedy it. I’m not sure.”

What to remember about The Devil Wears Prada
The original film, adapted from former Wintour assistant Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel of the same name, remains a beloved staple in pop culture. Streep stars as the formidable fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, alongside Hathaway as Andy Sachs, the ambitious young assistant navigating the ruthless world of fashion. Blunt plays scheming assistant Emily Charlton and Tucci portrays Nigel, Miranda’s trusted confidant, rounded out the cast.
The film was not only a critical and commercial success but also earned several accolades, including Streep's Academy Award nomination and Golden Globe win for Best Actress for her role as Miranda and an Oscar bid for Best Costume Design; the film also garnered Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, and Best Supporting Actress for Blunt. The Devil WearsPrada was also a major box-office hit, grossing $326 million (with a modest budget estimated at $35 million to $40 million).
Tucci recently shared his enthusiasm about the new project in an interview with Variety, saying, “I know they’re working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever.”
