Overview
Mario Kart World is a kart racing game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch 2 (as a launch title) on June 5, 2025.
The ninth mainline installment of the Mario Kart series, Mario Kart World features 24-player races and a large connected open world where all circuits reside, which most game modes make use of in different ways (such as a revamped Grand Prix, the last-racer-standing Knockout Tour, and a casual "free roam").
Drivers
Several characters, such as Donkey Kong, have updated appearances. In addition, each of them have unlockable alternate outfits.
The following characters, several of which are NPC's from throughout the Mario franchise and are new as racers, do not have alternate costumes (and several are unlockable through special means):
Courses
Grand Tour
In traditional Mario Kart fashion, Grand Tour consists of a variety of Cups, each with an assortment of races. New to the series, however, is that only the first race is played as a standard circuit, with the other three races starting with the open world's route between each course.
Some circuits are unique in that each "lap" is a single part of the track.
