The Harry Potter films were a cultural milestone for many, a self-contained story with high stakes, set in a magical world where witches and wizards clashed over similar things that us humans do in the real world.
The rampant success of the original books and the film adaptations has now spawned several additional projects including the Fantastic Beasts movies and Hogwarts Legacy, as well as a major adaptation of the original novels in television form, with that set to release on HBO in 2027.
As such, greater efforts are being made to integrate the various projects to ensure they continue to make sense to fans and remain narratively cohesive. This is understandable given how much money there is to be made if they can continue to grow the universe overall.
With the show still some way away, fans have begun to identify some links between the upcoming series and Hogwarts Legacy, purely from leaked photos of the set that have made their way online.

Transfiguration Courtyard Gets A New Look
Back in November 2024, Variety reported that Hogwarts Legacy 2 would be co-ordinating its plot with the upcoming HBO series, to ensure satisfying continuity and plenty of fan service.
“We have known for some time that fans are looking for more things in this world, and so we’re spending a lot of time thinking about that,” said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

“Our insights tell us that there are not huge distinctions between a younger version of a fan and an older version of a fan. They’re just deep ‘Harry Potter’ fans, and we try to build authentic experiences to delight them.”
With that in mind, one user posted over on Reddit to share a leaked photo of the set, which they believe could be the Transfiguration Courtyard, thanks to its striking similarity to the first Hogwarts Legacy.

Fans were tentatively excited about the potential of the approach, with one saying, "I'm really curious how this will pan out. Whether it's about sharing set designs or even bigger than that, or just some small teases like Hermione stumbling upon a book in the library that hints at the ancient magic that no longer seems to exist or maybe it turns out to be nothing but a marketing gimmick lol."
"I think we’re seeing correlation not causation. HL castle is just aesthetically based on almost every old manor or castle in the UK. As is the HBO show. Go to any old Manor House or castle on the mainland and you’ll find those steps, arches etc," a more cautious fan added.
Whatever does happen, Harry Potter projects are not going anywhere, any time soon, so it makes sense that they all work well together, both visually and narratively.
