Cyberpunk 2077 fans are united by the potential of a Samurai DLC.

We’re almost five years on from Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, and the game has clearly come a long way since that initial troubled release.

In the years since, we’ve seen various updates and DLC come to the game, including the much-beloved Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023.

There’s also apparently more to come, with CD Projekt Red working with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster studio Virtuos to release new updates for the game. This apparently includes a new expansion, too.

Earlier this year, Virtuos senior writer Doug Van Horne was seen updating his LinkedIn page to include “Cyberpunk 2077 DLC” amongst his experience at the company, and that he’s worked on new side quests for the game. If we take this with a grain of salt though, it’s interesting to speculate on what CD Projekt Red and Virtuos might be cooking up.

Where could Cyberpunk 2077's next DLC head?

In terms of where the next Cyberpunk 2077 DLC could head is anyone’s guess. One user on X (formerly Twitter) has suggested a DLC focusing on Samurai, the in-universe rock band that uses music as a way to rebel against corporations.

Samurai members include Johnny Silverhand, Kerry Eurodyne, and several other characters that have appeared throughout the game and RPG.

“I would do literally anything for more samurai content of any kind,” wrote another fan in the comments.

“I need this on an incomprehensible level,” wrote another fan in the same thread.

In Cyberpunk lore, Samurai was a band that existed in the early 2000s, but quickly became forgotten as the 21st century progressed. However, the band reunites in Cyberpunk 2077 during the side quest “A Like Supreme”.

A DLC focused on the band could delve into Samurai’s origins, perhaps exploring the group during their original formation in the 2000s.

It could also be set after the main game and focus on what happens to each band member following the events of the story. Though, this might be tricky given the number of endings the main game has, and how certain characters’ fates can change rather dramatically as a result of these endings.

Nothing concrete has been confirmed yet regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming DLC. CD Projekt Red hasn’t commented on any new big expansions to the game, however it has confirmed that further content updates will be developed in collaboration with Virtuos.
