It’s official: retail is therapy.
Consumers ranked shopping as the activity that brings them the most joy when spending time online, according to a survey by e-commerce company Rokt in collaboration with The Harris Poll.
More than half (53%) of respondents said shopping with online retailers delights them, edging out streaming online content (47%) and interacting with social media (42%).
The poll found that consumer happiness peaks at the moment a transaction completes. However, while 70% say they love being surprised by a last-minute online deal, 62% would rather abandon their carts than deal with irrelevant offers during checkout.
In a wide-ranging conversation, four industry leaders discussed the power of the moment of purchase, and how marketers can tap into what Rokt calls JOCO: the joy of checking out.
