Surmounting the challenge of a weaker currency, Australia’s 50 richest tycoons are collectively better off from a year ago. They added $9 billion or around 4% to take their combined wealth to $222 billion.

Despite a weaker Australian dollar, Australia’s 50 Richest on the 2024 Forbes list are better off from a year ago. Their collective wealth rose to US$222 billion.

Led by Gina Rinehart, mining fortunes remain on top.

Mining magnate Gina Rinehart is Australia’s richest person. The collective wealth of Australia’s 50 Richest on the 2023 Forbes list soared 70% to US$213 billion from $125 billion in 2019 when the list was last published.
