The University of Miami is a private research university with three campuses on more than 400 acres throughout Miami-Dade County. It offers nearly 350 undergraduate and graduate majors and programs to more than 19,000 enrolled students. The university places a strong emphasis on research, with more than $413 million in annual expenditures going toward research and sponsored programs.Alongside academics is the athletics department, where the Miami Hurricanes play in 16 NCAA Division 1 varsity sports. The Hurricanes football
team has won five national championships, and the baseball team has won four national titles.
