With a lifelong passion for creative writing and an analytical bent, Elizabeth Aldrich has spent the last decade building a career in financial journalism. After graduating college, she spent several years working in admissions and financial aid while taking creative writing classes at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Elizabeth moved overseas and began her career as a journalist in 2015, freelancing for publications like Business Insider, The Motley Fool, Bankrate, Investopedia, LendingTree, Student Loan Hero, ValuePenguin, USA Today, Credit Karma, NASDAQ and Yahoo! Finance. She spent five years reporting on topics like consumer finance, credit cards, banking, economics, investing, travel hacking and loans while traveling the world as a digital nomad. During this time, she also volunteered on several farms throughout Central America and Europe, learned Spanish and worked on the side as a content marketing consultant for small businesses in the ecotourism space.
In 2020, Elizabeth moved back to her hometown of Portland, Oregon and took a full-time position as managing editor and content lead for an investing startup. She was in charge of building the startup’s content arm from the ground up, developing content strategy, managing its content calendar and team of writers, producing studies, and assigning and editing articles. During her first year, Elizabeth hired and managed a team of seven writers and interns, built out a library of content containing hundreds of articles, studies, podcasts and videos, achieved a consistent monthly growth rate of 35% in SEO traffic, and landed features in a handful of national publications. Elizabeth is a former banking writer at Forbes Advisor.
