It provides a fully functional development environment that is pre-configured and ready to use, eliminating the need for local setup and configuration.

Gitpod leverages the power of Docker containers to create isolated development environments for each project. When you open a project in Gitpod, it automatically spins up a container with all the necessary tools, dependencies, and configurations specified in a dev configuration file (.gitpod.yml) or inferred from the project.
