Dr. Frederick R. Cohen
Dr. Frederick R. Cohen passed away in his sleep the morning of January 16, 2022 at the age of 76. Beloved son, husband, and father, Dr. Cohen received his Ph.D. in 1972 from The University of Chicago and proceeded to revolutionize the world of algebraic topology both through his own groundbreaking research and through immeasurable influence on his extensive network of collaborators and mentees.
In addition to being a world-renowned mathematician, Fred will be remembered for the courage, kindness, warmth, passion, and love he displayed to those around him on a daily basis.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kathleen Whalen, loving daughters Helen and Sarah as well as their husbands David Mann and Chris Kvoriak, and his aunt Grace Ilchuk.
He was universally loved and will be universally missed.
