BBC Celebrity Traitors fans overjoy as 'ruthless' star finally leaves show

The Faithful have been waiting a long time for this moment

It's taken seven episodes and numerous failed attempts but tonight the Faithful finally managed to boot out the first villain from the Celebrity Traitors - and they were absolutely chuffed.

As they rejoiced, host Claudia Winkleman appeared almost as thrilled as the contestants themselves, exclaiming: "You've got one!".

Following his elimination, Jonathan Ross remained steadfast in his support for Alan Carr and Cat Burns as potential victors, despite both having voted for his removal.

"In my dream scenario, it would be Cat and Alan," he revealed after departing the castle.

"I don't think Alan's going to survive, but I think Cat will make it to the end, and she deserves to win. Out of the three of us, she had the best tactical brain.", reports the Mirror.

Despite being amongst the most accomplished Traitors in the show's history, Wossy confessed upon his exit that he'd discovered the experience to be "more intense and much trickier" than expected - and genuinely wished he'd been a Faithful instead.

"I thought I'd be happy to be a Traitor, but I actually found it really hard just lying to people - that is what makes it such compelling viewing," he revealed.

"Around the second day I began to think 'oh, I really wish I'd said I'd like to be a Faithful'."

Jonathan, 64, revealed that having Cat and Alan alongside him on the BBC programme had provided tremendous support.

"Cat, I only knew a little but I really like her, and I thought, 'Oh, she's going to be a cool Traitor', and then when Alan came in, I thought, 'this is going to be fun' . I love Alan, he is one of the funniest men I've ever met in my life, so to have him there with me already made me feel more comfortable."

The ITV personality - who is a devoted follower of The Traitors and has watched every series - expressed his delight at surviving as long as he did, though recognised his time had come to an end.

"On the last day at breakfast, I knew eyes were on me. I began to relax, oddly, at that point and thought 'OK, I am going home today, just enjoy the day'. I could have fought back, but you know what? I thought, 'I'm going have a nice day'. I've got further than I thought I would, so I'm quite happy'."

His departure speech at the conclusion of the roundtable prompted shocked reactions from fellow contestants as he maintained his pretence of being another Faithful.

Delivering what Joe Marler dubbed "the most ridiculous bow-out ever" Jonathan declared: "I've got no idea what everyone's doing wrong. I can't believe you've done it again. I can't believe that I'm standing here for no good reason I don't want to be rude but - you're idiots! I'm not judging, because it's fiendish - I'm not blaming the players, I'm blaming the game.

"I am now, and have been all through the game, completely Faithful," he asserted, as heads dropped into hands around the table, before adding: "To the Traitors!".

Claudia Winkleman, the host, couldn't contain her delight. "You've got one!" she exclaimed, adding that from tonight the ousted players will no longer disclose their allegiance.

On last night's episode, Wossy expressed that he didn't hold Cat and Alan responsible for betraying him at the last minute and voting him out - and now believed they could scoop the jackpot, currently standing at £53,000. "I hope that, out of respect for the departed, older member of the family, they will stick together and they will romp off to victory."

Despite voting against her fellow Traitor, singer Cat, 25, appeared devastated to lose him, confessing: "I feel very sad because it was me, Jonathan and Alan the whole time but unfortunately he had too much heat on him."

Speaking directly to the camera, Alan admitted that the focus on Wossy had benefited him. "That got me off the hook," he sighed.

"But there's a Jonathan Ross-shaped hole in my turret."

At the beginning of last night's show, murdered Faithful Lucy Beaumont gasped when she discovered who the Traitors were and told them: "Oh my God - I hope you all feel terrible about yourselves."

And when Cat mumbled an apology, she retorted: "No, that's not good enough."

Following the revelation, Lucy expressed a mix of "real shock and betrayal" but also felt "relief" to finally know the truth. However, when asked who she'd like to win, she confessed that it was Cat - for playing the game so well.

Alan admitted that he hadn't enjoyed the act of killing her. "Murdering face to face was so harsh and so raw," he shared with the camera.

"I felt like the grim reaper."

In tonight's episode, viewers will once again witness the remaining Traitors having to commit murder in plain sight - this time by uttering the words "parting is such sweet sorrow" to their chosen victim.

However, after Cat instructed Alan to carry out the task, he appeared shaken. "I've always got to do their dirty work for these Traitors," he grumbled.

"I'm surprised they haven't got me up in the turret with a vacuum. Why is it always me?".
