Celtics' Walker out due to illness

Boston Celtics star guard Kemba Walker will miss Friday night's home game against the Atlanta Hawks because of the flu, coach Brad Stevens told reporters after the morning shootaround.

It will be the just the second game Walker has missed this season. The other one was on Nov. 25, three days after suffering a neck injury in a road game against the Denver Nuggets.

It hasn't yet been determined whether or not Walker will travel with the team for Saturday's game against the Chicago Bulls.

Walker is averaging 22.5 points and 5.2 assists in his first season with Boston. The three-time All-Star spent his first eight NBA seasons with the Charlotte Hornets.

Shooting guard Jaylen Brown (illness) is expected to return after a one-game absence.

Boston also recalled guard Tremont Waters from the Maine Red Claws of the G League. Waters averaged 4.3 points in three games with the Celtics earlier this season.
