Maryland WR Jones out for 2019 with torn ACL

Maryland wide receiver Jeshaun Jones will miss the 2019 season after tearing his left ACL in practice on Monday, the school announced Tuesday.

As a 2018 freshman, Jones caught 22 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns and rushed 18 times for 173 yards and two scores.

Jones will redshirt this season and have three years of eligibility remaining.

The Terrapins scored the first three times Jones touched the ball last season, sparking a 34-29 win against Texas on Sept. 1 with a 28-yard touchdown run, a 65-yard TD catch and a 20-yard TD pass.

He became the first Big Ten freshman since Ohio State's Maurice Clarett in 2002 to register two games with both a touchdown catch and a touchdown run.
