Reports: Angels agree to deal with 1B Bour

The Los Angeles Angels reached a contract agreement with free agent first baseman Justin Bour, according to multiple media reports Wednesday.

The Angels did not immediately confirm the deal, first reported by Yahoo! Sports. According to the New York Post, Bour landed a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Bour, 30, was not tendered a contract after the season by the Philadelphia Phillies and was placed on waivers, removing him from the team's 40-man roster.

Bour hit a career-low .227 in 141 games last season, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 59 runs, with the Phillies and the Miami Marlins combined. While it marked the third time Bour reached 20 homers in a season, he never had a batting average below .262 until his season-long struggles. He also struck out a career-high 124 times.

The Phillies acquired first baseman Bour in August during the waiver trading period after he had played his first 4 1/2 seasons with the Marlins. In 29 games with the Phillies, Bour hit just .224 with one home run and five RBIs in 29 games.

Bour has a career batting average of .260 with 84 homers and 277 RBIs over five big league seasons.
