Penguins' Crosby might return Wednesday

Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby, who sat out the past three games due to an upper-body injury, might return to action Wednesday when the Penguins play host to the Dallas Stars.

The team captain was a full participant in practice Tuesday.

"Just to be able to get contact and do regular drills, I think that's a good sign," Crosby said. "It was good to get out there with the guys. We'll see (about playing Wednesday). It's kind of day-to-day. I'm seeing how I feel, but it was good to get out there."

Coach Mike Sullivan said of Crosby, "He looks pretty close to me. He had a good, strong practice (Tuesday). We'll see how he responds. His status is still day-to-day. Obviously, he had a real good practice, and that's encouraging."

The Penguins are 0-2-1 in Crosby's absence, extending their losing streak to four games. They are 1-7-2 in their past 10 games.

"It's always difficult watching," Crosby said. "You want to be with the group regardless of winning or losing. You want to be out there, but especially when you lose. You want to go out and help in any way you can. Just trying to stay positive and do my best to get back."

In 16 games this season, Crosby has eight goals and 11 assists. He has topped 80 points in each of the previous five seasons, but he hasn't reached the 100-point plateau since getting there for the fifth time in his career in the 2013-14 season.
