Red Wings C Helm injured in win over Devils
Detroit Red Wings center Darren Helm suffered an apparent arm injury during Saturday's victory over the New Jersey Devils.
The Red Wings termed it an upper-body injury and said he will be re-evaluated Monday.
Detroit coach Jeff Blashill expects Helm is facing a prolonged absence.
"He'll be out for some time," Blashill told reporters after the 3-2 overtime triumph. "I don't have a time period, I'll know more Monday, but he'll be out for some time."
Helm was injured after falling awkwardly along the boards in the first period. He grabbed his left arm and exited the game in obvious pain.
Helm has six points (one goal, five assists) in 19 games this season.
The 31-year-old Helm is in his 12th season with the Red Wings. He has 216 career points (94 goals, 122 assists) in 587 games.
