Indians LHP Miller (shoulder) back to DL
The Cleveland Indians placed left-handed reliever Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with a left shoulder impingement on Wednesday, his third trip to the DL this year.
Miller returned from the 60-day disabled list in early August after sitting out since May due to right knee soreness. He spent time on the 10-day DL earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury.
The 33-year-old is 2-3 with a 3.38 ERA in 27 appearances this season, striking out 33 and walking 13 in 24 innings of work. He had dropped his ERA from 4.40 before his 60-day DL stint to 3.13 before giving up a run Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.
Miller has a career ERA of 3.95 across 13 seasons, but he hasn't finished any season above 2.64 since 2012. He posted a career-best mark of 1.44 in 2017 to earn his second career All-Star appearance.
In a corresponding move, the Indians recalled left-hander Tyler Olson from Triple-A Columbus.
Olsen, 28, is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in 32 appearances for the Indians this season, all in relief. He went 1-0 without allowing an earned run in 20 innings of work for Cleveland in 2017.
