Buccaneers release G Sweezy
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released starting guard J.R. Sweezy, the team announced Friday.
Sweezy started 14 games for Tampa Bay last season during the second season of a five-year, $32.5 million deal. He missed the final two games after breaking his fibula.
Sweezy missed the entire 2016 season due to back surgery.
The 29-year-old Sweezy was scheduled to make $6.5 million this season.
Sweezy spent his first four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Buccaneers. He played in 59 games for the Seahawks from 2012-15 and made 49 starts.
