Red Sox place LHP Pomeranz (biceps) on DL

The Boston Red Sox placed left-hander Drew Pomeranz on the 10-day disabled list, manager Alex Cora told reporters prior to Tuesday's game.

Pomeranz is battling left biceps tendinitis. The move was retroactive to June 2.

The Red Sox recalled right-hander Brandon Workman from Triple-A Pawtucket in a corresponding move.

Pomeranz is just 1-3 with a 6.81 ERA in eight starts this season. The 29-year-old has pitched five or fewer innings in each of his past four starts.

Pomeranz won a career-best 17 games last season.

Workman is 2-1 with a 4.18 ERA in 15 appearances at Pawtucket.

Workman, 29, was 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA in 33 relief appearances for Boston last season.
