Rangers recall RHP Bush, DFA Jepsen

The Texas Rangers recalled right-handed reliever Matt Bush from Triple-A Round Rock and designated right-hander Kevin Jepsen for assignment on Monday.

Bush, 32, posted a 3.97 ERA in 13 appearances this season before being optioned last month to Round Rock, where he allowed two runs and nine hits across nine innings while striking out 14.

The former No. 1 overall pick posted a 3.08 ERA in 114 innings across 115 appearances during the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Rangers.

Jepsen, 33, joined the Rangers on a minor league contract in December before earning a spot on the Opening Day roster, but he has struggled to a 5.94 ERA in 16 2/3 innings and 21 appearances this season.

Jepsen has a career ERA of 4.00 in 469 appearances, all in relief, across 10 seasons in the majors with the Los Angeles Angels, Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins and Rangers.
