Chiefs reportedly to release S Parker
Ron Parker is the latest starter not returning to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Parker will reportedly be released before free agency begins Wednesday, saving the Chiefs $5 million against the 2018 salary cap.
The Chiefs released linebacker Derrick Johnson after 14 seasons earlier this offseason and agreed to trade cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams at the end of February.
Parker, who started at safety and is the middle of a five-year, $25 million deal signed in 2015, creates another opening in the Kansas City defense.
Parker, who turns 31 in August, had 67 tackles, two interceptions and four pass defenses last season.
