Lakers' Hart to undergo hand surgery

Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Josh Hart will undergo surgery Friday on a fractured metacarpal bone in his left hand.

The Lakers didn't offer a timetable for Hart's recovery, but coach Luke Walton didn't rule the 22-year-old out for the season.

"It's one of those things, obviously there's zero rush to bring him back," Walton told reporters Thursday. "But if he's healthy and ready to play and we've got a couple of weeks left, then yeah we'll get him back on the court."

Hart fractured the fourth metacarpal on his left hand during Wednesday's practice in South Florida. He returned to Los Angeles on Thursday to have the hand examined, where the decision for him to have surgery was determined.

Hart has been a pleasant surprise for the Lakers and is averaging 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 55 games (20 starts).
